Radiofrequency Neurotomy (RFN) involves the destruction or long-term block of small nerves. The radiofrequency generator produces a localized heat lesion to either destroy or deactivate the nerve, while leaving the surrounding region and larger nerves unaffected. Minimizing (and often completely eliminating) the pain can be very beneficial to help the patient return to normal life activities. The procedure can block pain for up to 2 years.
